FLEX-5000A with RX2: total flexibility

The FLEX-5000A transceiver is designed with a hardware architecture is very flexible. In addition to the many connections to different types of accessories (see card FLEX-5000A), it can be mounted inside your cabinet for a second receiver (RX2), in all respects equal to the main receiver (RX1) completely managed by PowerSDR in simultaneous RX1.

RX2 can be configured at any time in order to use one of the three antennas available on the FLEX-5000A or an antenna dedicated to it (on exclusive input connector). RX2 are possible with different "scenarios to be" very interesting
  • monitoring of a band other than the RX1
  • listening mode "Diversity" (requires special PowerSDR)
  • listening on the other side even though RTX is Transmission (with antennas)
  • analysis of CW signals in a specific band (with CW Skimmer)
On this last mode I understand the importance of RX2 and the incredible flexibility, not found on any other transceiver amateur, the FLEX-5000A with RX2.

picture above you can see a very complex configuration PowerSDR, similar to that presented in the previous post but with the introduction of RX2 (note panadapter of PowerSDR divided in half: on RX1 - RX2 below).

In practice, we have this situation:
  • TX RX1 & LSB on 40M (with dipole)
  • RX2 on 20M CW (VAC enabled to 96Khz)
  • CW Skimmer in analysis
  • Logger32 with RX2 enabled on DXcluster CW Skimmer
  • Tmate for tuning "manual" RX1 or RX2 choice.
when configured as above is possible, for example, make a QSO on 40M and simultaneously monitor the traffic you receive on CW in the range of 20M (or whatever) and in the case of a spot of interest to us, by clicking on Logger32, the RTX (RX1 & TX) automatically tunes to the frequency and mode of the SPOT to make immediate call to the station reported. As you can see by CW Skimmer RX2 CAT controls, without being confused with RX1, as CW Skimmer provides the opportunity to select their own (only PowerSDR) which of the two handsets to use and control. The "audio link" between RX2 and CW Skimmer is also made using Virtual Audio Cable (VAC), specifying in PowerSDR to send the signal of RX2 only. The link management CAT is always entrusted to VSPE.

E 'should also be noted that the use of RX2 is well integrated into the chain of forwarding, that can be operational immediately place in either band (RX1 and RX2), with the right antenna and the
other specific parameters of the band, with just one clik of a mouse!
